Jaelyn Lay: "Clemson was one of my dream schools"

Jaelyn Lay was one of the select prospects Clemson invited up to visit Saturday and the 6-foot-5, 210 pound hybrid out of Riverdale (Ga.) received some big news while there.

Clemson extended an offer to Lay and the Tigers have shot up to the top of his list.

"Clemson is now No. 1 for me," said Lay. "It was like a dream come true when I got the offer. I was just visiting for the experience, so I was very surprised when I got the offer.

"Clemson was one of my dream schools."

The offer from Clemson gives Lay 10 total and this one could be tough to beat. He has been watching Clemson for years and he likes the plan they have for him if he was to go there.

"I have been a fan since 2013 when I was watching Sammy Watkins play. I saw him, Deondre Hopkins, then Mike Williams and then Deon Cain. They just always have me excited to watch them play and then one of my idols is Jordan Leggett.

"I am very similar to him. We both played receiver in high school, then transformed into a flex tight end. Clemson was telling me about being a mismatch against linebackers and safeties like Leggett was, so I like that."

It was Lay's first visit to Clemson and things could not have gone better. He got the offer, he spent time with the coaches, he saw the facilities and he met with Christian Wilkins to learn more about the program.

Lay said, "It is player-oriented there and it is great for life after football. That is Clemson's goal. It was all just a good experience."
