THE LATEST: Jadon Haselwood is one of the top prospects in the state of Georgia right now and he is only a sophomore. The 6-foot-3, 175 pound playmaker out of Ellenwood (Ga.) Cedar Grove is a playmaker on both sides of the ball, but his home on the next level is wide receiver.
He has been receiving scholarship offers for over a year and he has already been in that five star discussion. LSU was at one time the favorite for Haselwood and Oklahoma was his childhood favorite, but he is now focused on three schools will a decision looming.
Georgia, Ohio State and Tennessee are Haselwood's top three schools and although he won't sign a letter of intent for almost two more years, he is looking to make a decision in the near future. He has taken many visits, he is in regular contact with coaches and he feels he will be ready to commit soon.
IN HIS OWN WORDS: "The plan was originally to commit in the summer, but I think it will be before that now. I just want to get recruiting over with early, and as soon as I feel I am ready to commit, I will. I know I am getting close. I want to commit early, then recruit players and just cut the overall stress down the next two years for me and my family."
Georgia: "I really like coach [Kirby] Smart as a person and we have a great relationship. I like the fans at Georgia too and I get a lot of love when I am up there."
Ohio State: "I feel I really relate well to the people there at Ohio State. When up there I feel like I am at home. It has that city feel like where I am from. I also like how they produce top players."
Tennessee: "Coach Z (Zach Azzanni, wide receivers) and I have a strong relationship and I really think he could coach me up. I have been there for games, I have been there for camps and I like the feeling I get up there."
RIVALS REACTION: Last summer when Haselwood left the LSU campus, he was extremely close to committing to the Tigers. That love has since faded with a coaching change in Baton Rouge (La.) and three schools have risen to the top. He wore Ohio State gloves all season while helping the Saints win a state title. He has spent a lot of time in Knoxville (Tenn.) over the past year. The in-state school, Georgia seems to be the one that has made the biggest move in recent months. Schools are not going to stop recruiting Haselwood regardless of when he commits or who he commits to, but he seems set on making an early decision. He feels that will be best for him and his family.
