Jacksonville athlete with first offer

Samuel Smiley is listed as a dual-threat quarterback prospect from Jacksonville Raines High School. Smiley, 6-0 and 170 pounds, will likely play on the defensive side of the ball at cornerback and for now is being recruited as an athlete.
"Yeah, I am a quarterback in high school but most schools are recruiting me as an athlete," Smiley said. "On offense I see everything real well and see the field. Defensively I have really good speed at corner and I can read the quarterback well. My guess is that I will play corner in college."
So far Smiley has one scholarship offer.

"Illinois has offered. Coach (Dan) Disch is recruiting me. I don't know much them but I will visit them soon. I just have to set it up."
Smiley says others are recruiting him hard like Vanderbilt, Louisville and Georgia Tech and he's hoping to also see Rutgers, Tulane, North Carolina and South Carolina.
"I am pretty open with everyone. I am just looking for playing time and to play for a good coaching staff."
