Holmes picked the Orange over Iowa and Indiana. He also held scholarship offers from Connecticut, Southern Mississippi and Middle Tennessee State.
Holmes likely will play cornerback at Syracuse. He is the 20th commitment for the Orange in this year's class and the second from the state of Florida, joining tight end Nick Provo of Greenacres John I. Leonard.
Holmes visited Syracuse officially on the weekend of Dec. 8.
"I am very impressed with the coaching staff, I can tell that they have a lot of experience and they have the program going in the right direction," Holmes told Rivals.com following his visit. "They are doing everything the right way and I like that."
Holmes is a high (5.4) two-star rated recruit by Rivals.com.
