Jacksons recruitment picking up pace

Lansing does not get the recruiting attention that Detroit or even West Michigan receives, and prospects in the state of Michigan's capitol tend to stay under the radar until late in the process.
Lansing Sexton quarterback Taurean Jackson looked to overcome that trend by attending the U.S. Army Combine in San Antonio earlier this year and now the 6-0, 187-pound prospect is starting to see his star rise in the spring evaluation period.

"I have received a couple of letters from Louisville, Ball State, Toledo, Cincinnati, Michigan State and a variety of schools," Jackson reported. "Toledo actually came into our school today and Michigan came in to see me Friday. Central (Michigan) came in to see me Friday as well."
As a junior, Jackson threw for 1,200 yards and 15 touchdowns and also rushed for 500 yards and eight more scores. He runs the 4.6 in the 40-yard dash and could project as an athlete, but most schools are recruiting him right now as a quarterback.
"Toledo came in and talked about quarterback and how they are running a new offense," Jackson said. "One school said they project me as a safety just because I could read offenses, but that's pretty much how that's been."
Jackson welcomes any school that is interested in him, but coming into the process he had one team that he favored.
"My top choice since I've been young has been Louisville. I don't know why. None of my family's been there, but I just loved them and I play video games with them," Jackson said. "Louisville and Michigan State is what I grew up into and a little bit of Western (Michigan)."
Jackson will attend one-day camps at each of those three schools and probably a few more. He will also be heavily involved in 7-on-7's with his team this summer.
