Jacksons recruiting taking off

Detroit (Mich.) Renaissance 6-foot-7, 285-pound junior Alaric Jackson grew up playing basketball, but football has supplanted his first love in terms of his post-high school pursuits.
This past fall was Jackson's first season playing football, and just a few months later he has an offer list that has reached ten schools.

"Actually, it has been a really good (experience) with this being my first year," Jackson said. "It's been a real good process for me with all the offers and all the attention. I'm really eating it up and football has really become my main sport. I love the contact and the fast pace."
With offers coming in on almost a weekly basis, Jackson is just sitting back and letting the process happen at this stage.
"For me it's kind of early so I am open in the process," he said. "After I get more offers I will go down the line."
The Detroit native is actively researching the schools that have offered. He will visit Toledo on Friday and Michigan State on March 28. The offer from Michigan State is his most recent, coming through just this past Monday.
"I was really happy about that because it is a big school and the Cotton Bowl and Rose Bowl champs the past two years. I know a lot about Michigan State from my friend who plays for them right now, Lawrence Thomas.
Jackson does not have any visits scheduled past his visit to Michigan State later this month, but he would like to check out a couple more schools this spring.
"I want to see Purdue and Kentucky," Jackson said. "Just the level of competition, their playing style and I want to see how their schools are set up."
Beyond the ten schools that have offered, Jackson said he is also receiving interest from programs like Auburn and Oregon.
