Jackson to visit Big Ten school

Big Ten schools dominate the top of Detroit Renaissance offensive tackle Alaric Jackson's interest list, and this weekend he will travel to see a program from the conference that is rising in his recruitment.

"I plan on going to Illinois with Tim Walton on Saturday," Jackson reported. "Things are going pretty well and me and Coach (Tom) Brattan, the offensive line coach there, talk a lot. I want to see about my major, who they are recruiting, how many offensive linemen they are going to take and things like that."
This weekend's trip will be an unofficial visit. Most recently, Jackson listed Iowa, Michigan State, Nebraska and Wisconsin as the schools he was highest on, and he has planned an official visit to one of those campuses.
"Those are still high on my list," Jackson said. "I have Iowa set up for an official visit after the season, around January. Me, (Iowa commits Cedrick) Lattimore and Chauncey Golston are all going to go down there. Me and Ced talk almost every day. We've known each other since we were young."
Jackson is also drawing new interest from two schools outside the Big Ten that have yet to offer.
"I've talked to Oklahoma and Tennessee a lot lately," Jackson said. "They want to get me down to the school because they are recruiting some other guys in the area."
The 6-foot-7, 285-pound Jackson has helped lead Renaissance to a 4-4 record. They need a win in their season finale Thursday afternoon to have a chance at the post-season.
