Jackson reacts to Beamer news

The news that Virginia Tech head coach Frank Beamer would step down at the end of the 2015 season - his 29th with the program - reverberated around the college football world Sunday. Among those most affected by the news were the Hokie's 2016 commitments. Saline, Mich., three-star quarterback Joshua Jackson committed to Virginia Tech in June and now is contemplating how that affects his future.

WHAT'S NEXT?: Jackson put a call into Virginia Tech quarterbacks coach Scot Loeffler immediately after hearing the news and was later contacted by the school's athletic director, who reassured him that his scholarship offer would be intact no matter what. Jackson signed his grant-in-aid form earlier this fall, preparing the way for him to enroll at the school in January. Jackson is currently leading his Saline team in the state playoffs. They are 9-0 and Jackson has thrown for 1,700 yards and 19 passing touchdowns thus far.
IN HIS WORDS: "I took my official last weekend, so I don't know if I'll visit again. Pretty much we're just going to see what happens, who the head coach is going to be and how that works out. (Loeffler) just told me to wait, see how things work out, focus on my season and not really worry about this right now."
RIVALS' REACTION: Penn State is the one school that has been consistently staying in contact with Jackson since his commitment to Virginia Tech, but the three-star is not sure if this news will invite more teams to look his way. The key for Virginia Tech is Loeffler, who coached with Jackson's father and Michigan from 2002-07 and was a key reason he committed to the Hokies in the first place. For now, Jackson is sticking with his commitment to Virginia Tech while he sees who the next head coach in Blacksburg will be.
