Jackson planning final summer trips

Detroit (Mich.) Renaissance offensive tackle Alaric Jackson has been involved with AAU basketball all summer, but hopes to see a couple schools before his senior season begins.
The 6-foot-7, 285-pound Jackson is up to 15 scholarship offers. One of those is from Purdue and he is looking to visit the Boilermakers next month.

"I think we're going to set something up in August," Jackson said. "They really love me and came up to school to see me a couple times. I want to see the school and style of play."
Purdue has had success in recent classes recruiting the Detroit area, including picking up a commitment in the 2016 class from safety Navon Mosley of West Bloomfield.
"I know him a little bit through football and we've talked before," Jackson said. "Just knowing someone who is going there, it does (help)."
Another school Jackson is trying to get out to is Rutgers. The Scarlet Knights have yet to offer, but have been recruiting him for several months.
"I really want to get out to Rutgers for an unofficial visit," Jackson said. "I am going to Vegas and will be back Monday, so sometime after then."
Jackson has been in contact with offensive line coach Mitch Browning and offensive assistant Rocco DiMeco from Rutgers' program.
"The coach is really cool down there and tells me about Rutgers, that it is a great school," Jackson said. "They have been recruiting me since early this year, so a long time. Rutgers is like a top school right now. They haven't offered me yet, but said they will soon."
Jackson maintains no leaders, but plans to announce a top ten during his senior season. He will not make his college selection until his senior season has finished.
This past season was Jackson's first playing football. He entered high school focused on basketball and has drawn some looks for that sport from schools like the University of Detroit, Bowling Green and Buffalo and has not closed off consideration to playing basketball in college.
"I am kind of open right now," Jackson said. "I could do both or maybe one, but I am open to both sports."
