Alex Jackson is hitting the road next weekend to Iowa State and the Culver City, Calif., wide receiver said he's excited about the trip to see if he'd be a good fit with the Cyclones.
Iowa State and San Diego State are the two early favorites for Jackson, who caught three touchdown passes in Friday's victory over Palos Verdes (Calif.) Peninsula. Getting to Ames next weekend is an important step in his recruitment.
"The coaches talk to me all the time," Jackson said. "They really have a good program and they're turning it around. They beat Iowa last week and it seems like they're on the rise so I want to be a part of a team that's doing well.

"It's really important to me to get there because I haven't really been far away from the West yet so it will be nice to experience something new and see what they have going on over there. I want to get a change of scenery so that might be the place for me."
San Diego State is also seriously in the running for Jackson, a 5-foot-10, 175-pound prospect who finished with 44 receptions for 811 yards and 13 touchdowns in his junior season.
The Aztecs' coaching staff has been coming after him hard and that means a lot to the Culver City standout.
"I talk to San Diego State all the time," Jackson said.
"They tell me that I'm really important to them and I feel that way. It's close to home and they have a good program so that could be something to think about there."
Oregon State and Arizona State have also been keeping in close contact with Jackson, who lists offers from Colorado, Colorado State, Kansas State, Vanderbilt and Washington State as well.
Before he makes his commitment, Jackson said he would like to take all five of his official visits. A trip to San Diego State is expected sometime in December. Others could happen at any time during the season.
