Jackson close to major offer

Lamar Jackson has emerged as one of the top defensive backs in the West this spring and another major offer could be coming soon.
The Elk Grove (Calif.) Franklin prospect who earned the defensive back MVP award at the Rivals Camp Series in Las Vegas said he's been talking a lot with Notre Dame and he believes the Irish offer is only a matter of timing.

"This past Friday Notre Dame came to the school," Jackson said. "We talked recently and they told me they were fired up. Everything is good with them. I followed the whole staff on Twitter so I feel like an offer is coming soon.
"I feel like the coach is already satisfied with what he's seen. He said the whole staff likes me and I'm the prototype of what they're looking for. I think it's only time until they offer.
"Notre Dame is a top-of-the-line program so that would be a big one."
Alabama has also reached out to Jackson, a 6-foot-3, 207-pound recruit who looked good at cornerback and safety this past weekend at the B2G 7v7 Los Angeles at Orange Coast College.
USC and UCLA are basically tied at the top in Jackson's recruitment though. He said those coaches have been the most consistent and active up to this point so the Bruins and Trojans look the strongest.
"They have constant communication with me and those coaches show me the most love," Jackson said. "They're talking to my parents, talking to me and they're just showing me the most love.
"At the end of the day I'm going to go where I feel it's the best fit and where I feel I can make an impact as soon as possible. I'm not looking for an offer but if a school comes in late and they're showing me love and I feel like I have a good shot to play as a true freshman then they'll be up there, too."
The Elk Grove Franklin standout said he could commit this summer or wait until one of the all-star games. That could all depend on which programs get involved in the coming months.
