Jackets still lead for Battle
Georgia Tech has stepped up its interest in Delray Beach (Fla.) Atlantic Community cornerback Dominique Battle. The Yellow Jackets have been communicating their interest in the Palm Beach County standout by way of text message.
"I got a text message from (Georgia Tech assistant coach) Jeep Hunter last night," Battle said. "He asked me where things stood with me and Georgia Tech and I told him that Georgia Tech is still at the top for me."

The Yellow Jackets have yet to offer a scholarship to the 6-foot, 165-pounder, but appear to be interested. Battle plans to make an unofficial visit to the Atlanta campus on the weekend of March 30. He also will make an unofficial to Virginia that weekend.
"I just want to go up there and get a feel for the coaches and the players," Battle said.
Battle recently worked out at a local combine and came away with some solid numbers. He ran a 4.6-second 40, a 4.28 shuttle and had a vertical leap of 33 inches.
Battle had 50 tackles and three interceptions during the 2006 season.
