Jackets make push for Louisiana OL

A enjoyable camp experience at Georgia Tech this summer helped put the Yellow Jackets on the short list of River Ridge (La.) offensive lineman Aaron Meyer.
“The coaches there were awesome,” he said. “And I loved the campus. It kind of surprised me. I wasn’t expecting it to be that nice, but it was great. It definitely helped put Georgia Tech up there in my mind. If they offer a scholarship, I’d have to seriously consider it.”

Meyer (6-3, 285, 4.9) plays for one of the Bayou’s top programs in John Curtis Christian. He already has offers from his previous co-leaders, UCLA and Colorado. Clemson, Louisville, Northwestern and Louisiana-Lafayette have also offered.
“UCLA and Colorado are still on top,” he said. “UCLA is in the lead by a little bit. I’m looking forward to going out there for an official visit. I like my recruiting coach, coach (Eric) Bieniemy a lot. He’s real cool. I like what he has to say about the environment there, the academics and how they take care of their graduates.
“Colorado is another nice campus, a good environment. I really like the offense they run. I like the running game. Their system would fit me pretty well.”
West Virginia and Ole Miss are also pursuing Meyer, who projects as a full-qualifier with a 3.2 GPA and a 19 on the ACT.
