Jackets lead for in-state quarterback

Stone Mountain (Ga.) Redan quarterback Byron Ingram is ranked as one of the top 75 players in Georgia by Rivals.com. And it looks like he's inching closer and closer to making a final decision.
"I was just at the Georgia Tech passing camp," Ingram, who is 6-foot-5 and 185 pounds, said. "I had a chance to talk to coach (Chan) Gailey during a break. He was asking me about how things have been going this summer and how recruiting was going.

"I told him I haven't made the decision yet, and I'll likely do that in the middle of my senior season. But I really like Georgia Tech big time."
Ingram said he's also got an offer from Duke and also is get looks from Maryland, Tulane and Mississippi State. He played last season at Class AAA Towers and has made the transfer over to Redan, where he seems to be fitting in quite well.
"We went 4-2 in that passing camp," he said. "The two games we lost in one of them we played the backup quarterback and in the other we lost to Walton, who is one of the best teams in the state. Everybody else we rolled."
As a junior, Ingram threw for 1,700 yards and 21 touchdowns. He's been working hard this summer at getting better, so he can improve those numbers.
"I still want to get better at reading the defense," he said. "I still don't think I'm there yet. I'm going outside every day and running our plays against the defense. I also wanted to put some weight on. I'm at 185 now, so I've added some good weight this summer."
