MURFREESBORO, Tenn. -- Players from around the state of Tennessee gathered in Murfreesboro on Saturday afternoon to compete for a spot on former five-star wide receiver Josh Malone's 7-on-7 squad. The event featured several players already on the recruiting radar as well as some new names for recruiting fans to get to know. Here's our list of the players who stood out for their showing at the event.

Recruiting: McDonald has early offers from Louisville and South Carolina.

Performance: McDonald came into the event as one of the highest-ranked players so it's not a surprise that he impressed, but he continues to show progression and develop into an elite defensive back. With terrific length and the ability to turn and run, it won't be long before McDonald's offer list catches up with his ranking.

Recruiting: Burns is waiting on his first offer.

Performance: Burns is coming off a big junior season and he immediately stood out for his physical prowess. He has almost no bad weight and is probably over 200 pounds but moves like a player much lighter. With his athleticism, Burns easily looks like he could slot into a number of different positions, but his pass-catching ability is why he will likely end up on offense at the next level.

Recruiting: Tisdale has offers from Alabama, Oklahoma, LSU and several others.

Performance: Tisdale is a natural athlete and he stepped right in and was ready to impress. With great length and excellent athleticism, Tisdale is smooth as a defensive back and makes it look easy at times. Already a national level recruit, TIsdale will be a name many fans will be watching this spring.

Recruiting: Dingle has an early offer from Western Kentucky.

Performance: Dingle just wrapped up his sophomore year and continues to look like a rising star in the state of Kentucky. With a great build and good hands, Dingle appears poised to follow in his brother Justice's footsteps and earn a shot to play at the Power Five level.

Recruiting: Simpson already has offers from Tennessee, Michigan and several others.

Performance: The event featured mostly drill work for position players, limiting the quarterbacks ability to truly uncork the ball down the field, but Simpson still impressed with his velocity and accuracy. He continues to grow and fill out his frame and is well on his way to being one of the top quarterbacks in his class.

Recruiting: Turrentine has early offers from LSU, Tennessee, South Carolina and others.

Performance: One of the top players in the state of Tennessee for the Class of 2021, Turrentine continues to look the part of an elite prospect. Listed as an athlete, Turrentine could play a number of positions at the next level, but his highest ceiling is likely at defensive back.

Recruiting: Blachard has an early offer from Tennessee.

Performance: Blanchard is a technically sound defensive back that is very good in coverage and he has a knack for breaking on the ball at the right time. Coming off a strong junior season, Blanchard is likely to see his recruiting profile grow in the coming months.

Recruiting: Clayton is waiting on his first offer.

Performance: Clayton is a little more under the radar than some of the other players on this list but he more than held his own on Saturday. He looked natural backpedaling during drills and has good length for a player his size.

Recruiting: Ingram is waiting on his first offer.

Performance: A versatile athlete who plays both running back and defensive back, Ingram worked out on the offensive side of the ball during Saturday's workout. While he showed a nice ability to move in space, his highest ceiling could be a defensive back, where his ball skills will help set him apart.

Other notes

Several top prospects from the J3M Memphis team were in attendance but didn't work out, including 2020 Rivals100 LSU wide receiver commit Darin Turner, Class of 2020 three-star defensive back Cameron Threatt, Class of 2022 running back Dallan Hayden and Class of 2022 defensive back Cameron Miller ... Malone, who just finished up his second season with the Cincinnati Bengals was also on hand, as was J3M alum and current Tennessee defensive back Alontae Taylor ... Class of 2022 prospect Isaiah Horton, one of the top young players in the state, was in attendance but didn't work out due a minor injury suffered during basketball season.
