Its official Wallace a Dawg

In an ongoing soap opera of is he or isn’t he a committal, strong safety/running back C.J. Wallace (6-0, 195, 4.4) from Sacramento (Calif.) Grant received the phone call this morning that he has been waiting for.
Wallace had committed earlier to running backs coach Chuck Heater, but Heater told the young man that he would have to get the final word from Husky head coach Rick Neuhiesel.

Well that word came today via a phone call from El Paso where the Huskies are playing in the Sun Bowl
“Coach (Rick) Nuehiesel called just before you did,” Wallace said. “He told me he was glad to have me. Coach Nuehiesel also told me that if anyone would be able put out (Ohio State standout RB) Maurice Clarett it would be me.”
Wallace does deliver a knockout punch. He caused two fumbles from his strong safety position to go with 73 tackles. The Huskies like him as a safety but he is a pretty good running back too. Wallace rushed for 1,600 yards and 25 tackles as a senior.
Washington wins the services of Wallace over other offers from Oregon, Oregon State and Illinois.
“I liked everything about Washington,” Wallace said. “I like the academics, athletics, coaches and the players at Washington.”
