Its official Phipps a Duck

It’s official three-star linebacker Ryan Phipps (6-0, 210, 4.44) Corona (Calif.) Centennial will be a Duck. Phipps committed to Oregon in a heated battle over Colorado.
“Oregon was the right fit for me and for my family,” Phipps said. “I also like their three linebacker system.”

“The (Oregon) coaches are great guys,” Phipps said. “I just really fit in with them and the players.”
The Oregon Ducks are thrilled this commitment because they think he could be another Kevin Mitchell for them. “All the Oregon coaches call me little Kevin,” Mitchell said.
In one quarter of play on Monday Phipps and 16 tackles and one pick against Mira Loma (Calif.) Jurupa Valley spearheading a 49-9 win.
“All the starters were out after the first quarter,” Phipps said.
When told about what highly touted teammate running back Terrell Jackson said that Phipps seems to be in on every play, Phipps said, “I try to be.”
Phipps and his Centennial teammates will play in a tough contest this Friday when they hook up with Corona (Calif.) Santiago. Centennial wins they go to the playoffs.
Phipps has offers from Oregon, Arizona, Colorado, Colorado State, Wyoming, Hawaii, San Diego State and Brigham Young.
Phipps is rated by Rivals.com as the nation’s number 22 outside linebacker prospect and he’s a member of the Rivals.com California Top 100 team and is ranked as the number 51 prospect at any position from the Golden State.
