Its finally official: the Hawk flies North

It was only a matter of time. And finally the time is up for Carrollton (Texas) Turner cornerback Michael Hawkins.
Hawkins, the 6-foot-1, 170-pound Rivals100 selection, officially committed to Oklahoma on Saturday, but his pledge was something that Sooner fans and other college coaches have known was coming for a while now.

"He came in Saturday and we were lifting with the players," Turner coach Tim Beck said. "He came in here and said coach 'I'm ready.' I didn't know what he was ready for.
"He said: 'Let's call coach Stoops. I'm ready to be a Sooner.' "
Hawkins' pledge was nothing but expected for Oklahoma. Hawkins and Beck have said for the past few months that he's leaning heavily toward Oklahoma over Florida, Colorado, Texas A&M and numerous others that have offered scholarship.
"I asked him if he was sure," Beck said. "I also told him that if he makes a commitment then he's going to stick with it because you don't give your word. He said he's ready.
"He said he talked long and hard with his family and his girlfriend. And after they talked they felt like it was time."
Time to be a Sooner.
