Ohio State's strong 2017 recruiting class got a whole lot stronger on Monday.

Five-star wide receiver Trevon Grimes and four-star wide receiver Tyjon Lindsey committed to the Buckeyes.

The Buckeyes emerged for Lindsey in recent months, especially after Lindsey had a phenomenal visit to Ohio State for its Friday Night Lights Camp last month.

After that trip to Columbus, Lindsey said the visit was “perfect”, that he had a great time with the coaches and players on campus and that he “felt at home.”

Those are always incredibly positive things to say after a visit and Lindsey did not back down from the Buckeyes in recent weeks as he was working toward making a commitment before his senior season.

Nebraska had also been a serious contender for a long time and the four-star even worked out at the Huskers’ satellite camp in Southern California this offseason.

Lindsey had listed a top group that also included Alabama, Auburn, Michigan, Notre Dame, Oregon, Tennessee, Texas A&M and USC. Georgia had also recently offered but the Bulldogs never gained much traction.

Ohio State already has one of the top recruiting classes in the country and Lindsey adds to that. Grimes' earlier-than-expected commitment tremendously bolstered Ohio State's class as well.

Grimes, the top wide receiver in the 2017 class, was always seen as an Ohio State lean. He was set to announce his decision on Aug. 24, but abruptly announced his intentions to join the Buckeyes on Monday. The destination was no surprise. The timing, on the other hand, brought the shock.

Florida and Florida State were seen as peripheral options at best for the five-star receiver, whose recruitment lacked drama or intrigue. Grimes becomes the third five-star prospect in the Buckeyes’ 2017 class, joining defensive back Shaun Wade and offensive lineman Wyatt Davis.

Grimes's eventual return to the Midwest will be a homecoming of sorts, as the Ft. Lauderdale (Fla.) St. Thomas Aquinas receiver grew up in Illinois before making the move to Florida for high school.
