Is Upland safety nearing first offer

Safety/running back Allen Denton (6-1, 190, 4.51) from Upland, Calif., got off to a slow start due to a minor injury but now he is back to full speed and playing up to his potential.
"Oregon State came to see Allen play last Friday and they were impressed," Upland coach Tim Salter said. "He could be close to his first offer."

"Allen has been playing extremely well over the last three games," Salter said. "He's been starting both ways for us."
"As a defensive back, he's coming up and really hitting," Salter said. "Like I previously stated he's playing very well. He doesn't have any picks but the opposition isn't throwing his way."
"On offense, Allen rushed for 130 yards and three touchdowns in our last game," Salter said. "He's good on offense but I think he will be a safety on the D-I level."
"In my opinion, I think Allen is great," Salter said. "He's as a good a defensive player that I have every coached and I have one (Orlando Huff) who starts as a linebacker for the Arizona Cardinals. Allen can really play."
"Allen is a hard-hitting safety and that's why I think he will end up on defense," Salter said. "That is his style of play."
"In skill level, Allen is a Pac 10 player," Salter said. "If someone doesn't go on Allen then they missed the boat."
Denton leads the team in scoring with eight touchdowns. He has rushed for 347 yards on 40 carries and has scored seven rushing touchdowns. His other touchdown came through the air.
"Allen has good hands coming out of the backfield," Salter said. "Whoever signs him won't be sorry."
