With LSU's recent verbal commitments from quarterbacks D.C. Jefferson and Jordan Jefferson, does Aldine quarterback Darron Thomas think three will be a crowd?
The 6-foot-4 silky smooth athlete verbally committed to LSU this summer and has piled up 1,407 yards passing and 12 touchdowns during his senior season. He remains committed to LSU, but plans on visiting the University of Florida in weeks to come.
"Darron has not decomitted or anything, but he's a smart kid," Aldine coach Bob Jones said. "He has concerns that LSU has signed two more quarterbacks in this class and he wants to play quarterback in college. He's going to visit Florida."
Thomas helped lead the Mustangs to a playoff berth and will face Lamar High School this weekend. He plans to take his trip after the playoffs.
"LSU has been really supportive with this," Jones said. "They are secure where they stand with Darron and it's nice how they are handling this. He is still committed to LSU."
Rumors were also swirling around about Aldine's offensive lineman Daniel Campbell and his commitment to USC, but Jones confirmed that his is solid to the Trojans.
"Daniel wears USC wristbands, hats, lanyards and shirts all the time," he said. "He's a firm commitment."
