Is Sherman getting close

Once Compton (Calif.) Dominguez wide receiver Richard Sherman received academic clearance from long time favorite Stanford, we thought it would be just a matter of time before the athlete ended the recruiting the process and committed. We even thought there was a good shot Sherman would announce at last weeks CaliFlorida Bowl but Sherman said he will take two more trips before pulling the trigger.
Sherman, 6-3, 170 pounds is a standout player on both sides of the ball. He starred at receiver and cornerback for the Dons this past season and helped lead the team to the CIF Div III championship.

Sherman participated in the CaliFlorida Bowl last week and looked very good catching the ball. The receiver has good size, runs well and knows how to use his body to shield smaller defensive backs. Unfortunately, Sherman didn't get a chance to show what he can do during the game since it poured cats and dogs and the field was more mud than grass by the end of the 1st quarter.
On the recruiting front, Sherman has two trips lined up in the next couple of weeks and will be ready to make his decision by the end of the month.
"I'm going to Washington this weekend (Jan. 6) and then Stanford (Jan. 13)," Sherman said. "I thought I was going to commit early and was planning on doing it at the CaliFlorida game but I really want to take these next two trips first to be sure of my decision.
"Washington is a good school and I'm looking forward to the visit. They have been recruiting me for awhile now and I like the coaches there and the opportunity to play early there. Stanford is still my leader and I love everything about the school. I've been down there before and it's a great campus and a like the environment a lot. I thought about committing when I got the call from Coach Harris telling me I was cleared but I know I needed to take these trips and I should be ready to announce after my Stanford visit."
