Is NC State a leader for DE Holt Rains

Goldsboro (N.C.) Rosewood defensive end Holt Rains was one of many attendees at the NC State junior day over the weekend. The 6-foot-5, 230-pounder was impressed with his visit, but was it enough to put the Wolfpack amongst his leaders?
"I'd say North Carolina State and Clemson are leading," he said. "I like NC State because it's my hometown. It would be nice to play in-state, while Clemson has a really good program. They are one of the top teams in the country."

Last weekend Rains was in Raleigh.
"I really liked the visit there, it was cool," he stated. "The facilities were nice and all the coaches were cool. On the visit, I checked out the facilities, met the new coaches and they talked about their thoughts on the upcoming season.
"I talked a little while with coach Willis. I liked him a lot. He made me feel really comfortable. I think it would be cool to play for him because he just wants his defensive linemen to make plays.
Other schools checking Rains out include Clemson, Duke, Auburn and Michigan State. In the near future, the junior defensive end plans to take visits to Auburn and Clemson.
With a variety of schools showing interest, what does Rains want out of a college?
"I think I'd like a good staff to play for and a school with solid academics," he said. "I'd like to also stay close to home, but I have no problem going out of state either."
Rains earned all-conference and all-area on his way to 110 tackles and 11 sacks as a junior.
