Is Gopher early verbal still solid

Wayzata, (Minn.) three star ranked inside linebacker prospect James Laurinaitis (6-foot-2, 230 pounds) is getting ready for his team's huge state quarterfinal game this weekend against Cretin-Derham. Laurinaitis, who gave the University of Minnesota an early verbal commitment back in mid-April, has reopened his recruiting this fall.
“James is just in the process of trying to find the best fit possible", Joe Laurinaitis, James's father said. “He gave a very early verbal commitment to Minnesota, but at the time we also told the coaches at Minnesota that James was going to take some visits. We've also informed several college coaches that James was going to consider all of his options at this point."

Joe Laurinaitis also filled us in on his son's latest recruiting news.
"James has a solid offer on the table from Ohio State, and James has also set an official visit to Ohio State on December 3rd. Both Notre Dame and Michigan State have indicated that they are both very interested in James, and the coaches told us that we should check the mail very shortly."
So do the Gopher still have a shot at Laurinaitis?
"Minnesota is still in it no question. I think that one of the biggest concerns we have with the Gophers is that James wants to play inside linebacker on the college level, and that the coaches have a different idea for him position-wise. We haven't heard from the Minnesota coaches in awhile, but we live here and playing close to home is attractive. James just wants to make sure that he's exploring all of his options before making his final decision."
Laurinaitis has made 152 tackles this season in just 11 games so far this season.
