Is Anthony Vernaglia nearing a decision
Four-star athlete prospect Anthony Vernaglia (6-4, 218, 4.5) from Orange (Calif.) Lutheran is one of the best two-way players in the Golden State and the country. Vernaglia can just about name his ticket regarding college choice and there was a lot of scuttlebutt going around that Vernaglia was about name his school.
The word was Vernaglia had narrowed down his college choice to two schools. Well the decision has been put off for the time being and another school has to be added to the leader board. As a matter of fact, two more schools have emerged as dark horse candidates.

Vernaglia had been rumored that his decision was imminent and that the lucky schools in the running were Notre Dame and Virginia.
Those two fine schools are in the running but according to Vernaglia, USC has joined the leaders and is in a dead heat for his services. Vernaglia also told rivals.com that Penn State and UCLA are still in the hunt.
Penn State and UCLA should be considered dark horse candidates.
Vernaglia, in a recent passing league tournament, more that held is own against the state’s number one prospect Randy Estes of Los Alamitos, Calif.
It was even said that Vernaglia was the best athlete on the field that particular day.
That is saying a mouthful.
On offense, Vernaglia has been compared to Denver Bronco great wide receiver Ed McCaffrey. He runs great routes and is tough as nails.
Vernaglia caught 41 passes for 894 yards and scored 13 touchdowns during his junior campaign.
As a defender, Vernaglia has been compared to Tampa Bay safety John Lynch as a hitter. His five fumbles caused is a testimony to his hitting ability. Vernaglia also had 70 tackles and 12 sacks while playing linebacker.
Does Vernaglia have a preference on what side of the ball he wants to on the next level?
“”I have no preference,” Vernaglia said. “I just want to get on the field and contribute.”
What is Vernaglia looking for in a college?
“Obviously academics will play a large part in my decision,” Vernaglia said. “Football wise a chance tom play early and to be coached by a good coaching staff.”
Vernaglia could make up his decision before September, but players who have as many options as Vernaglia has anything can happen.
