Irving features four top juniors

Four junior prospects highlight the Irving (Texas) High School team and it looks that all of them are looking for a strong finish to the season despite a rough start.
Two-way prospect Demarius Washington is one that is receiving a lot of early talk but that's not taking anything away from three other prospects who are receiving their fair share of praise. Quarterback Yogi Gallegos played last year at Arlington (Texas) Grace Prep but is looking for big things as he finishes out his high school career at Irving.

"Out at Grace Prep, I had been a starter since my freshman year," Gallegos said. "After there was a shakeup with the coaches there, coach Jim Bennett here at Irving welcomed me with open arms."
Mail has been coming from Alabama, LSU, and Miami mainly for Gallegos. He attended a camp at SMU this past summer where he drew a lot of praise.
"They rated me and our backup quarterback as two of the top five guys there," Gallegos said. "It was fun to get out there and see what it was like at a camp. That was my first one."
Two-way prospect Chucky Jones is being recruited as a cornerback, but plays running back for Irving as well.
"I'm a speed guy," Jones said. "I can bring the heat at corner if I need to and make a big hit. But, I like to use my speed. I know I can't be beat one-on-one."
Jones was in Gainesville, Texas last year and is back at Irving where he was playing as a freshman.
"I was having some personal issues, so I left Irving and moved up with a friend," Jones said. "My mom just wanted me to keep away from distractions and now she felt like I was ready to come back."
Last but certainly not least is inside linebacker prospect Chris Garza. Mail has been coming from several Big 12 schools including Oklahoma and Texas A&M.
"I love Texas A&M and the atmosphere there," Garza said. "That's where I'd like to go."
Garza says through the first couple of games he has around 30 total tackles, 15 solos, and an interception.
"I'm just a hard-hitting linebacker," he said. "I don't have the greatest speed, but I get to where I need to be."
