Irvin to take WVU, SC official visits

While class of 2015 four-star all-purpose back Tim Irvin of Palmetto Bay (Fla.) Westminster Christian has yet to name a leader, his official visit schedule is becoming more clear. The 5-foot-8, 182-pound Irvin said he plans to take official visits to West Virginia and South Carolina.
Irvin will in Morgantown on Sept. 20 to see the Mountaineers take on the No. 4 Oklahoma Sooners. He's still working with South Carolina on which date he'll visit Columbia.

His other three official visit destinations are still up in the air.
"I'm still open to all my schools to take an official to," Irvin said. In August he named Florida, Florida State, USC, Clemson and Miami as schools he's considering the most.
On Saturday, he was at Florida A&M-Miami game for an unofficial visit. Miami has been long assumed as a possible landing spot for Irvin.
"I got there early and was talking with the coaches," Irvin said. "They said I could come in and make an impact at Miami in a lot of different ways and that they want me to come there and help build a team."
Irvin said he's intrigued by West Virginia and cited his relationship with Mountaineers assistant JaJuan Seider for wanting to make the trip to Morgantown.
"When I talk to coach Seider it just feel like, not home, but a school I've liked since the day he started recruiting me," Irvin said. "So I want to go there and see how it feels to be there, what their program is like and all of that stuff.
Irvin said he'd have a chance to make an immediate impact at West Virginia should he choose to go there.
"They told me that everything's not a given and that I'd have to work hard," he said. "But they said just come up there with a good mindset and I can play as a true freshman, no redshirt or anything like that. They had a lot of positive things to say."
Irvin also has a good relationship with the South Carolina coaching staff.
"When I talk to the coaches I feel like I have a great bond," he said. "Every time I talk with the DB coaches I feel like there's a connection. They want me to come there and be an impact player. They told me they have two returning juniors and one senior graduating this year, so if I come in and compete I could have a starting position."
Irvin fractured his ribs on Friday in Westminster Christian's game against Champagnat Catholic and will miss at least the next two games. He hopes to return Sept. 26 for the Warriors' game against Gulliver Prep.
