Irish get involved

The race keeps getting tighter for South Grand Prairie offensive tackle Tray Allen. Last week three more offers came in for the Rivals100 member and a big one finally became official this last Thursday.
Allen had made a phone call to a Notre Dame assistant coach and apparently there was some big news that needed to be given to the talented Texan through head coach Charlie Weis. Upon making a phone call that night to Weis, Allen found out about his next offer.

"When I got in contact with coach Weis, he was eating dinner with his wife," Allen said about the phone conversation. "He told me that they were looking for the best guys in Texas and I was that guy. Then he told me they were officially offering me a scholarship."
Though all the offers have been special for Allen, he says getting his latest one from Weis was particularly memorable.
"Yeah it was different because it's one of the top schools in the country and it was just that much more prestigious for me," he said. "To be honest, I don't really have a favorite any more. All of them are about the same. Notre Dame is involved now but Miami, Florida, LSU, and my coach says USC are all getting information on me."
The first junior day event for Allen was to be this weekend for Oklahoma State's event, but word of snow kept him off the roads. He will be making his next to see what Texas has to offer him.
"I'm ready to see what it's all about," Allen said about the Longhorns. "I'm really going to look around at all of these schools and pretty soon, I see myself narrowing it down to about seven or eight schools to focus on. I don't want to waste any time of a team that I'm not seriously considering."
"If I can wait to announce at an all-star game I will, but if I can't then I'll just have to go ahead and figure something else out. I'm just really excited right now."
