Iowa TE drawing national interest

West Des Moines, Iowa tight end/defensive end prospect Trent Flander (6-foot-4, 230 pounds) has started to draw hand-written mail and recruiting interest from several schools across the country this spring. Flander, who already has an early offer from Iowa State, gives us the scoop on his latest list of suitors. The Dowling Catholic standout fills us in on his recruiting.
“Things have been going very well so far," Trent Flander said. “I still have one offer from Iowa State. I've been getting a lot of hand-written letters over the last few weeks in particular. Notre Dame, Kansas State, Florida, UCLA, Miami (Fla.) and Oklahoma have all sent hand-written mail."

Flander, who is planning on attending the Nike Training Camp at Iowa City, Iowa in May, also has started a busy spring visit tour. "Yesterday (Monday) I went to an Iowa State spring practice, and overall that went very well. I'm also planning on seeing a few spring games and practices over the next few weeks. I'm going to the University of Florida spring game as well as Notre Dame, and I might also try to check out both Kansas and Kansas State as well."
Does Trent Flander have any early favorites? "Iowa State is my top school, they are the first school to offer me so I'm definitely interested in the Cyclones. I would also say that Notre Dame, Kansas State, Miami (Fla.) and Oklahoma would be my favorites for now."
So what factors is Flander considering in a potential school? "I want to play tight end in college. I just feel that tight end is my natural position. Education is also an important factor for me, as well as getting a good feeling for the coaches as well as for the players and the football program overall."
