Iowa State offers Foster

Rivals250 offensive tackle Sean Foster of Mundelein (Ill.) Carmel Catholic ended a six-month commitment to Minnesota on Tuesday after a conversation with the Golden Gopher's coaching staff. Throughout the entirety of his recruitment, the 6-foot-8, 285-pound Foster had accumulated a total of 28 scholarship offers, and as a four-star prospect he should have plenty of suitors going forward. A new one added their name to the list Tuesday evening when new head coach Matt Campbell and the staff at Iowa State extended Foster his 29th scholarship offer of the process.

WHAT'S NEXT? The break-up between Foster and Minnesota did not sound amicable and the Gophers are not expected to be a part of the conversation going forward. Foster, though, has had his phone ringing off the hook since the de-commitment was announced. TCU, Ole Miss, Penn State, Indiana and Purdue all reached out to Tuesday. Iowa State was the first new offer, but he already is familiar with several members of their new staff.
IN HIS WORDS: "Toledo did offer me, so I got to know (Campbell) pretty well through Toledo. Then, Coach (Alex) Golesh was from Illinois and I got to know him really well because he was in-state and came up all the time to see me and Noah (Turner). I am really open to anything right now and am really taking everything slow with my family, making sure it is a family fit more than anything."
RIVALS' REACTION: Offensive linemen are always in high demand late in the process, and a 6-foot-8 lineman with the athleticism to play the all-important left tackle position will certainly be. The Iowa State offer is interesting because they have a player who had almost exactly the same scouting report coming out of high school as Foster does in Jake Campos and there are previously built ties with that new coaching staff. Foster has all five of his official visits left, but will not take one this weekend because it is his birthday weekend. He has not scheduled any of those official visits and will evaluate which schools to visit in the coming days.
