Iowa State has the attention of 3-star Louisiana WR Gregory Clayton

The Latest: As the younger brother of former LSU star and current NFL wide receiver, it’s not surprising that three-star prospect Gregory Clayton has star potential on the field. Over the past few months several schools have taken notice, and the offers are starting roll in for Clayton. Rivals.com caught up with Clayton at the New Orleans stop of the Rivals 3-Stripe Camp Series presented by adidas to get the latest on his recruitment.

In His Words: “Iowa State is the school talking to me the most right now. They are telling me they want me to come and be a big player in their offense there. They think I can hit the ground running. I know they throw the ball a lot and they kind of run the same offense that we do at my school so I know they get the receiver the ball a lot and that’s something I like. I haven’t been up there before but I’m planning on going soon. I might go up there and camp so I can get a feel for the coaches and everything.”

On other schools showing interest: “Colorado State, Texas and Mississippi State have all been talking to me. Everyone wants to make sure I have my grades straight and see me in person at camp.”

Rivals Reaction: Clayton has the bloodlines and the on-field production but his offer sheet has been slow to grow. Iowa State is smart to get in early, especially with other schools likely to come calling later in the process. The next step for the Cyclones is to get him on campus, something that he said is likely to happen in the coming months.
