Iowa safety prospect is on the rise

Clear Lake, Iowa wide receiver/safety prospect Matt Scribbins (6-foot-3, 205 pounds) wrapped up his college camp tour last Friday at Northwestern University. Scribbins was one of roughly 75-80 campers in attendance, and Scribbins had a very impressive camp performance.
“I liked the Northwestern camp," Matt Scribbins said. “It was a lot of fun. I was really impressed with the campus as well as with the football facilities. They really do everything at Northwestern to help out the athletes, they have a great facility and the coaches were great as well."

"I thought I did pretty well at the Northwestern camp overall. I'm not sure what my 40 yard dash time was, but I know that I'm testing much faster these days. I started working with a speed teacher, and he really helped me with my starts. Earlier this summer, I was starting my 40's standing up, and now I have much better technique on my starts. It makes a huge difference in my overall times."
Scribbins was very strong in several one-on-one drills on Friday at Northwestern, and Scribbins is focusing on his cover skills.
"I play a slotback position as well as free safety on my high school team, and a few college talked about looking at me as a wide receiver. I'm really focusing on playing safety in college. The one-on-one drills are just a great way to measure your ability. I've been able to cover some very good players this summer in camps, and it's just going to make me a better player this fall."
"The college coaches have all said that they want to see me nail someone this fall on tape, so that's what I'm planning to do. I have a feeling that if I have a good early senior year, I'll be able to give those coaches something to think about."
As far as favorites, at this point Scribbins is looking at four schools, yet Scribbins is quick to point out that he'll listen to any interested schools.
"I camped this summer at Iowa, Iowa State, Nebraska and Northwestern, and those are my favorites at this point. All four schools called me back in May, and those four schools have been showing me the moist recruiting interest at this point. I just want to play college ball, and I'm more than willing to listen to any school that is interested."
