Iowa OL lands a Big 12 camp offer

Marion, Iowa offensive tackle prospect Andy Kuempel (6-foot-7, 250 pounds) started off his summer camp tour with a serious boost, as Kuempel landed his first offer from the Kansas Jayhawks late last week after his camp performance.
“Needless to say I had a very good ride home from Kansas," Andy Kuempel said. "I was able to workout at the Kansas lineman camp last week, and the coaches were impressed enough to offer me a scholarship."

Kuempel talked about his Kansas camp experience. "I was really pleased with how things went at the Kansas camp. I was able to work with Coach (Ed) Warinner, the KU offensive line coach. I really liked his style, and I also learned a lot from that camp. I was able to check out the campus as well as the facilities at Kansas, and I was very impressed with everything at KU. The facilities are great, and the campus overall was just better than I expected it to be. I'm very interested in KU."
Kuempel also made a one-day camp stop to Kansas State. "I really enjoyed my camp at Kansas State, and I also thought things went pretty well for me overall. I was able to talk to Coach (Bill) Snyder and I also was able to check out KSU Stadium. I was really impressed with the stadium as well as with the facilities and the coaches at Kansas State. They said that they are actively recruiting me."
Kuempel's summer camp tour will pick up again today in Ames, Iowa. "Today I'll be camping at Iowa State, then next week I'm heading to the Iowa Camp. I might also camp later this summer at Wisconsin and Purdue, but I haven't set anything up just yet, plus I'm also involved in some basketball camps this summer."
