Iowa moves in on QB

Mentor (Ohio) Lake Catholic two-star quarterback Rick Stanzi is quickly becoming one of the hottest targets in all of Ohio. After helping his team move deep in the state playoffs, his season ended with an upset loss. However, with many college coaches coming after him now, it can't be that upsetting.
"We just got outplayed," Stanzi, who is 6-foot-4 and 193 pounds, said. "It was a weird thing. We had an off day. We shouldn't have lost. We had a nice season, but it wasn't what we had planned, so it's hard for me to be too happy."

But he is happy about the progress he's making on the recruiting front.
After waiting for a long time to see if a Big 10 team would show interest, the wait has ended. Iowa looks to be showing more and more interest in Stanzi, and there is now talk about an official visit to Iowa City being set up.
"They talked to my dad on Sunday and explained how serious they are in me," Stanzi said. "They're a big school. I like them a lot. You have to be interested in a big school like that when they want you to come take a visit. You have to at least go visit, even if you don't have an offer from them yet.
"I've been talking to coach Ferentz personally. It's really cool to hear from the head coach all the time."
Stanzi is looking hard at several MAC programs. He is set to visit Miami of Ohio on December 2, followed by a visit to Toledo on December 9.
"Akron and Bowling Green will be the other two schools I visit after Iowa," Stanzi said.
