Iowa commitment a dream come true for Bodey McCaslin

Bodey McCaslin's commitment to Iowa was a long time coming for the young and promising offensive lineman out of Illinois. What once seemed like a farfetched goal quickly became reality when the Hawkeyes offered on March 30 and McCaslin wasted little time jumping on what could be deemed a once in a lifetime opportunity.

"I'd say Iowa was kind of a goal school for me," McCaslin said. "It was an offer that I kind of saw as something to work towards but not necessarily achievable. Then when I did actually get the offer, I was like I gotta go back and I have to see it. I have to make sure I feel good about it. Then once I did, I was like I'm ready and I can commit now. Iowa was a school that I've wanted for a really long time."

A visit to Iowa City on Monday was all it took to seal the deal for McCaslin. The trip reinforced everything he believed to be true about the Hawkeye program and the people that make it.

"The people there, especially the players, those are a fantastic group of guys," McCaslin said. "I can't wait to be a part of that and those are some people I want to be around. I just like the campus there. I know a lot of people going to Iowa too, so it's going to be good to go somewhere where I know some people. I just really wanted to see campus more and once I liked the campus - I was like alright, I'm good, I'm ready to go."

McCaslin's lead recruiter and future position coach, George Barnett, is one person in particular that the three-star offensive lineman connected with throughout the recruiting process with Iowa.

"I would say coach Barnett and I have a good relationship," McCaslin said. "I mean that's what he does with his guys, the guys that he really likes to recruit. He builds good relationships, really honest ones, and I definitely I feel like ours is pretty good. He's grown to like me even more."

Hawkeye fans will be excited to know that McCaslin is all in with the program. He only plans on taking one official visit and has big goals for his time at Iowa and beyond.

"I'm working to be in the NFL and I can't wait to be a Hawkeye," McCaslin said. "That's it, it's just a pride thing for me. I can't wait to be a Hawkeye."
