Intriguing prospect takes in junior day

Middle linebacker Walter Woods from Palmdale, Calif., is a very intriguing prospect. He weighed in at 275 at the Rivals Five-Star Academy at Anaheim (Calif.) Servite while standing 6-0. He doesn't exactly have the measurements that a middle linebacker has, but he's quick and he was one of the reasons that Palmdale ended up playing in the CIF Championship game in 2007.
Woods is athletic and quick enough to even play some fullback for Palmdale last season.

While playing mostly middle linebacker, Woods accounted for 110 tackles, six quarterback hurries, two interceptions, two forced fumbles, two pass breakups and one sack.
The scouting report on Woods is he's very physical and moves very well for a guy his size. He also plays basketball and that helps with his footwork.
On the recruiting trail Woods has heard from Oregon and San Diego State. He even took in San Diego State's junior day this past weekend.
""I enjoyed it," Woods said. "I toured the campus and it was really nice.
"I really liked the coaches. They seemed to be nice guys and knew what they were doing."
What is Woods looking for in a college?
"I want to go into social work so a school that has the right courses in that profession will be very important to me," Woods said. "I want to work with teenagers who need some help and someone to talk to.
"As far as football, I want to go to a college with a good program," Woods said. "I'm not looking to start right away unless it is in the best interest of the team. I want to take my time and learn first.
"I also play nose guard and defensive tackle ," Woods said. "My coach thinks I can play either position on the D-I level, but I am working on getting my weight down because I want to play middle linebacker. I really like the position and I have been playing the spot all my life.
