Interest rising in 2017 DB Colbert

Kansas City Winnetonka's Djimon Colbert is one of Missouri's top class of 2017 prospects, and he has seen interest pick up from several schools in recent months.
"Of course I have been offered by Iowa already and been in contact with them," Colbert said. "Mizzou, I went to their junior day and talked to Coach (Andy) Hill. He said he wants me at their junior camp, which is June 6-9. I've heard a lot from K-State and think they are pretty interested. Nebraska's head coach and athletic director followed me on Twitter."

The offer from Iowa came during Colbert's sophomore season, and that early show of interest has made an impression on the defensive back prospect.
"It means a lot and I talked to their coaches after they offered about how they feel about me," Colbert said. "I have a lot of connections - Aaron Mends went there - and there are a bunch of great people up there. I talked to their defensive backs coach for the first time when I went out to their junior day and he was a cool guy."
With April dawning and spring games taking place at college campuses around the country, Colbert is starting to eye which schools he could visit in the coming weeks.
"I definitely want to see the Mizzou spring game. I have liked them since I was a kid," he said. "I want to try to get out to K-State and maybe Kansas because my friend Chester (Graves), they have offered him."
The 6-foot-1, 186-pound Colbert recorded 37 tackles and three interceptions from the cornerback position last season, but he could be playing a different position next fall.
"My team lost two great safeties last year, so they are trying to fit me in there," Colbert said. "I am maturing a lot more they want to put a lot more responsibility on me and move me to safety."
