Interest rises for NC athlete

Athlete Reggie Wilkins pulled an offer a couple months ago from the ACC. The 5-foot-10, 160-pounder continues to hold one scholarship, but interest is rising in the Shelby (N.C.) Crest prospect.
"I just went to North Carolina last weekend for their spring game," he said. "It was about the same as other visits. I just got to see how they do things down there at North Carolina.

"I talked to almost all the coaches. I didn't speak much to Butch Davis since he was on the field, but I talked to my recruiter and he said they are waiting on my ACT scores. I took it yesterday."
Wilkins plans to take another trip in the near future.
"I'm supposed to be going to Tennessee or Florida on April 18th for their spring games," he said. "I'm not hearing too much from Florida. I am hearing a bit. I like to see Florida play I like their speed.
"I'm hearing a lot from Tennessee. They tell me about their school and the new coaches and send me a lot of stuff."
Other schools showing interest includes Colorado, Louisville, Syracuse, Purdue and Illinois.
A versatile prospect that accounted for 1,800-yards of offense and 18 touchdowns on his way to all-conference honors. Where does Wilkins fit in on the next level?
"Everybody except Clemson is looking at me as a slot receiver," he said. "Clemson is looking at defensive back.
"It doesn't really matter to me. I'd rather play on offense, that's what I'm used to playing more."
