"I'm looking at Penn State sometime in the next week or so," he said. "Right now I'm just getting ready for the season and being with my team."
In the meantime, Coles claims a different school has given him a verbal offer.
"Rutgers actually gave me a verbal, but I'm waiting on an official offer to come in the mail. It's supposed to come in the next two or three weeks," he said. "I also picked up a scholarship from Ohio. All of the offers are great."
At least a handful of colleges are standing out right now for the two-star prospect.
"My top schools are Virginia Tech, Maryland and Rutgers," he said. "Virginia Tech and Maryland are going to take their time and watch me this season. I do plan to wait it out until Signing Day."
Coles discussed what he likes about his top choices.
"All three of those schools feel like home, especially Virginia Tech," he said. "I got caught up with the love and atmosphere around those programs. I also like the family environment."
The Maryland prospect is also beginning to look into official visits.
"I've got to talk it over with my family," he said. "I'm not in a hurry. I want to find the best choice for me. I'm looking to take officials when I have my bye week and then after the season."
