Interest rises for CB Steele

Cincinnati (Ohio) La Salle cornerback Ricky Steele put together a solid season last year as he posted 57 tackles, one interception and 12 deflections. The year has resulted in significant interest for the 5-foot-11, 177-pounder.
"I had a real good year," he said. "It was a lot different from my sophomore season. I played quarterback then and accounted for 22 touchdowns.

"I personally love playing bump. I like to be physical and get up in the receiver and make him think a lot and change direction. I don't like to play cover that much, I prefer bump. I know I need to work on that as well as breaking on the ball. I should gamble a bit more."
A number of colleges are already taking an interest in Steele.
"I've already been to Purdue and Cincinnati for visits. I'm looking at more to Louisville, LSU and Michigan State," he said. "I liked Purdue's campus. The coaching staff was really impressive and they've got good things up there. Coach Tiller has a good tradition and they do well year after year.
"Cincinnati was nice too. They stood out to me because of how many they graduate off the football team alone. They graduate 97% of the players. The facilities are all new and it is laid out really nice."
Plenty of other schools are also showing interest including Ohio, Toledo, Tennessee, NC State, Army and Vanderbilt. Is there an early leader?
"I grew up a Louisville fan. That is my dream school," he said. "I'm all about Louisville. I took a visit last year for track and the facilities and the way they run things are great. I'm a fan of the Big East too. I'd really like to verbal if they offered."
While Louisville is one of many schools interested, Steele is keeping an open mind. He mentioned what he wants in a college.
"I want my education, that is the main thing," he said. "I want to go and get my degree, so I can fallback on football. I also want to have a good time. I'd like a city or at least a city where the school is based around the university and then I'd like tradition too."
