Interest rises for 2011 DC quarterback

Interest is picking up for Washington (D.C.) Gonzaga quarterback Kevin Hogan. The 6-foot-4, 200-pounder is starting to receive interest from a number of colleges around the country.
"Coach Powlus from Notre Dame was in town last week," he said. "Coach Day from Boston College came to practice. Virginia has been by the school as has Maryland. I've also been receiving interest from Duke, Michigan State, UCLA, Rutgers and Richmond. Rutgers was actually at my game on Friday."

Recruiting is just starting up for Hogan. Does he like anyone in the early going?
"I'm open to everyone," he said. "I don't have any particular favorites.
"I haven't visited anywhere this season. I've had Saturday games that have conflicted. Hopefully I can make some trips after my season ends."
While he is wide open, the D.C. prospect did discuss what he's looking for in a college.
"Definitely tradition is one of the biggest parts for me," he said. "I want to go to a college with a strong football background and one that plays a good schedule."
This season Hogan has helped his team to a 3-3 start as he's thrown for approximately 1,100-yards.
"We're doing well I think," he said. "I think I'm playing well. I believe I've completed around 90-of-140 passes so far. I think we're going to pick it up the next four games heading into the playoffs.
"I started five games last season. I think this year my confidence has grown. I take pride in reading defenses. I'm still working on my decision making, looking off to my second and third receiver, I'm trying not to force passes."
Hogan is also a basketball recruit that averages nearly eight-points a game and is getting looks from Vermont and Lafayette among others.
