Interest picks up for Whitney

A couple weeks back quarterback Chris Whitney out of Philadelphia (Pa.) St. Joseph's Prep attended the Nike Camp at Penn State. The 6-foot-3, 215-pounder felt pretty good about his performance there.
"It went really well," he said. "I felt like I threw well particularly at the end of the one-on-one positional workout. In the one-on-ones I only had a couple missed throws. I feel that I really showed the coaches on hand my arm strength, accuracy and ability to throw the ball on the run. I had a very good time at Nike and there was a lot of good competition amongst the quarterbacks."

In the last few weeks Whitney has been sending out his tape to other schools in hopes of landing more scholarships.
"Coaches are starting to respond and I think Syracuse, Vanderbilt and Connecticut are close to offering," he said. "North Carolina has also been talking to me about another position since they signed Paulus. I'm not sure what I think about the position change at this time. I want to see how the rest of May goes first and then I'll consider it more. I've also heard from Iowa and Virginia."
Currently Whitney claims to have no favorites, but did say he is a big fan of Notre Dame.
"My family has grown up watching Notre Dame and I like them a lot. They have shown a little interest in me, but of course I'm still wide open," he stated. "I'm just looking for a solid academic school and somewhere I'll be able to find playing time and enjoy myself."
The Philadelphia quarterback earned MVP all-league after accounting for nearly 2,000 yards of offense and 25 touchdowns as a junior.
