Todd Spitzer has seen interest
pick up of late from some teams new to his recruitment.
"Rutgers is calling about every week," he said.
"They've been there the longest recruiting me, but I'm also starting to hear
from Cincinnati, Virginia Tech, Maryland and N.C. State.
"Cincinnati has been calling a lot lately. I really
like the program they're building. I think they're going to be a top program
in a couple of years, and I'd love to be part of that if they offer."
Spitzer (6-5, 220, 5.0) doesn't have his first
official offer yet, but had a request for film from Rutgers, Virginia Tech
and Maryland this month. He's completed 65 percent of his passes, thrown for
650 yards and tossed two touchdowns in the first five games for Hillcrest,
which features a ground-oriented offensive scheme.
"We're throwing the ball a little bit more now, but
we get pretty conservative when we get down in scoring position," he said.
"I'm hoping we open it up a little bit more the rest of the season.
Spitzer's top five consists of Rutgers, Georgia
Tech, Cincinnati, Maryland and Virginia Tech.
"Rutgers is still No. 1 for me right now," he said.
"I like the coaching staff, the players and the atmosphere up there.
Everything's great. The campus is not too small, not too big. It's a
beautiful area, and I can get a great education there."
Spitzer has attended Rutgers' game against Buffalo.
This weekend, he plans to watch Wake Forest at Georgia Tech. He also plans
to be in the stands Nov. 2 for Miami's game at Rutgers.
