Interest picking up for 2014 D-end

When Katy (Texas) Seven Lakes defensive end Jarrett Johnson began playing football in the seventh grade he had a feeling defensive end was the spot for him.
Now a junior, he stands 6-foot-3, and weighs in at 220 pounds. It is apparent to everyone that defensive end is a fit. A very good fit.

"I have explosiveness off the ball and I'm quick with my hands and feet and I have closing speed," Johnson said.
The college interest is already pouring in for the 2014 defensive standout. Michigan State, Arkansas, Duke, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Georgia, Colorado, Oregon State, and LSU have all sent mail and shown interest.
"They tell me about their campuses and tell me game times because they want me to watch their games and stuff like that," Johnson said.
He has not been able to take any visits so far, but two SEC programs are high on his visit list.
"I'd like to visit LSU and Georgia if that's at all possible," Johnson said
In addition to awaiting his first visit he is also awaiting his first offer at this early point in the recruiting process. He is taking in everything as it comes, but there are a couple of programs he has followed over the years.
"I liked Michigan State and Oregon State," Johnson said." Michigan State has a pretty good program and has been successful over the years. And Oregon State, my high school coach (Lydell Wilson) coached two running backs (Jacquizz and James Rodgers) who went to Oregon State and on to the NFL so I like their program and their coach."
