Interest mounting for WR

Eight schools that have already given Chris Godwin a lot to think about. The wide receiver from Middletown (Del.) has offers from schools like Stanford, Penn State, Rutgers, Boston College and others.
"None of them are sticking out right now," said the 6-fot-2, 192-pound Godwin. "I would like to narrow them down closer to the end of summer time. I'll probably cut it down to five.

"So far I have a really good relationship with Stanford, Rutgers and Penn State," he said. "Stanford is constantly in the top 25 and it's a great school to go to and get a degree.
"One of my cousins went to school at Rutgers so I hear a lot of good things from them," said Godwin. "They've a good tradition and a good coaching staff and that's very appealing.
"When I went up to a Penn State game, their fan base was unreal," he said. "The stadium and the tradition there are great. The sanctions won't really affect me as much. I'm going to develop as a football player and get the better every day regardless."
Coaching changes usually affect a recruit's opinion of that school. That doesn't seem to be the case for Godwin.
"I'm looking forward to getting to know the new coaching staffs at Boston College and N.C. State," said Godwin.
South Carolina, Michigan, Ohio State, Miami, Florida, Georgia, Notre Dame and LSU are all recruiting Godwin but have yet to offer him.
"So far South Carolina and Ohio State are recruiting me the hardest," he said. "For starters, Coach Meyer is a great coach and he has a really good mind for the game. That's very appealing to me. They play in front of a great fan base and have a very big following.
"I went down to South Carolina for a camp," said Godwin. "The weather is great down there, the coaching staff seems really cool and I've developed a pretty good relationship with them."
Godwin's offseason plans are still unclear at this time.
"So far this year I haven't taken any visits," he said. "I'm in the process of planning a few but I haven't decided where I'm going to go yet. At the moment there aren't any specific teams I want to go see I still need do some research to figure out which ones. I'm definitely got a few camps this offseason but I'm not sure which ones yet."
Last season, Middletown went undefeated and won the state championship.
