Interest is rising for Spada

Since winning the offensive line MVP honor at the Elite College Combine, recruiting is beginning to pick up for 6-foot-3, 255-pound offensive center Steve Spada. The Oradell (N.J.) Bergen Catholic lineman added his second offer.
"I've got an offer from Army and New Hampshire offered me two Fridays ago," he said. "I've also been talking to Navy and visited there this past Saturday.

"I got to talk to the defensive coordinator while I was on campus and checked out the facilities. It was amazing and a great place. I'd be excited if they showed me more interest. I only got to talk to coach Green, but he discussed their quick offensive line system and how they need athletic lineman that can move."
Spada continues to receive interest from a few other schools including Iowa, Wisconsin, Minnesota and Rutgers. Has he scheduled summer camps yet?
"I know I'm going to Rutgers camp for sure and I'm going to Army for a junior day on June 3rd," he said. "I've got to make a few more phone calls to find out where else I'll be going. I'll check out whoever is showing me the most interest."
With two offers in-hand and numerous other interest, Spada reflected on what he wants in a school.
"Right now Army and New Hampshire have shown me the most interest with offers," he said. "Other schools haven't come around and that may play a part in my decision.
"In addition to that, I'm looking at the academics and deciding do I want to be in the military or go to a regular college. I know it's a different atmosphere, but it comes down to life after football. I know the academies will set me up, although I want to talk to people at other places to see what's up with them. Besides that, I definitely want to play wherever I go. I can't sit on the sidelines."
