Interest increases in Schafenacker

Fort Lauderdale (Fla.) St. Thomas Aquinas offensive guard Kyle Schafenacker currently claims offers from Cincinnati, South Carolina, and SMU. The offer list hasn't grown much during spring practice, but interest continues to increase.
"I have talked to FSU, Duke, Purdue, Miami and some others this spring," Schafenacker said.

The 6-foot-4, 285-pound offensive lineman believes Duke is the closest to offering. He believes the Blue Devils are set to attend his intrasquad scrimmage later this week that wraps up spring practice for the Raiders.
Outside of Duke, most of the interested schools want to get Schafenacker on campus during the summer.
"Most of them want me to come to a camp and prove myself there," Schafenacker said. "I am going to go to the Miami camp, FSU camp, and up to South Carolina."
As for a top school, Schafenacker admits one kind of sticks out but hesitates to call them his leader at this point in the process.
"I don't really have a leader, but if anyone South Carolina just because they are the top school to offer me," Schafenacker said.
The Gamecocks made a good early impression with the South Florida lineman during a visit earlier this year.
"I visited there during spring break," Schafenacker said. "Everything was impressive. The crowd support was incredible. The coaching staff is great and the facilities are great."
As for his final decision, that won't come until after some camp visits this summer.
"I will probably wait until after summer and get it done before the season," Schafenacker said.
