Interest heating up for D.C. linebacker

A number of players are receiving interest out of Washington (D.C.) H.D. Woodson in 2008. One of those is 6-foot-2, 217-pound linebacker Evan Frierson. Currently the D.C. prospect claims one verbal and has interest from a handful of other schools.
"I'm still waiting on an official offer from Akron," he said. "I'm also getting interest from Illinois, Ohio, Wake Forest and Virginia Tech.

"With Wake Forest, I know they've gotten two linebacker commits. Their coach wants to see my first two games. Virginia Tech is waiting to see highlight film before they do something, while Illinois is just starting to talk to me. Finally, Ohio is sending a lot of mail."
Do any schools stand out for the linebacker prospect?
"I'd say Wake Forest and then Akron," he said. "I just like Akron's program and the campus. In terms of Wake Forest, I like that they are a small school, but a big-time program."
Obviously Frierson is pretty open still, what is he looking for in a college?
"The main two things I want are location and somewhere I can go and play," he stated. "I want to be at least four hours away from D.C., so I can feel like I'm on my own. I don't have to worry about family situations."
Frierson plans to visit a handful of games this season and has three schools in mind already.
"I know I'll probably go to Wake Forest and Akron and hopefully Virginia Tech too."
Last season the mid-Atlantic prospect registered 78 tackles, 11 sacks, three fumble recoveries and two forced fumbles as a junior.
