Interest growing for Kansas RB

Olathe (Kan.) East running back Andre Jones will be near the top of most recruiting lists in Kansas for the Class of 2005.
“He’s getting a lot of attention already,” Olathe East coach Jeff Myers said. “It really is kind of surprising it is happening this quickly. There are a lot of schools in touch already and wanting more film they can evaluate from this past fall.”

The list of schools in contact already include Kansas State, Kansas Notre Dame, Oklahoma, Alabama and Texas A&M.
“He doesn’t have any scholarship offers yet,” Myers said of the 6-foot-1, 175-pound Jones. “To my knowledge he doesn’t really have a favorite team at this point. He hasn’t really grown up as a real big fan of one school, so that won’t play a factor.”
Myers said his standout running back will need to continue to produce and have a good senior season.
“He rushed for about 1,200 yards last fall. He’ll need to do at least that and continue to get bigger, faster and stronger to make it to the next level. They are all recruiting him as a running back and he will be able to do it at that level.”
Jones earned All-Sunflower League honors in 2003 and was named to the honorable mention All-Metro squad by the Kansas City Star.
