Interest continues for Pettigrew
Rivals250 tight end Jamal Pettigrew committed to LSU in January, but that does not mean the recruiting process has stopped. He has visited Auburn and Alabama along with LSU this spring, and Texas has kept in close contact.

His most recent offer was from Alabama. The offer has not made him reconsider his commitment to LSU, but it did catch his attention.
"I'll definitely take another look at Alabama just because it's Alabama," Pettigrew said. "And I always take another look at everyone just to see if there's a better school than LSU. I'm always looking for a better school than the school I'm committed to because I think the school I'm committed to is the best. But you never know there might be another school that's a great school for you and your situation. I'm always doing that."
LSU has done quite a bit to set themselves up as the best in Pettigrew's mind. It's not just the football program or the coaches and the players. It's the entire package.
"Like I said I feel like I'm committed to the best program with the best people surrounding me that are going to make me and the team better," Pettigrew said. "But LSU is home and I think they can bring me to the next level at tight end and get me ready for the league and just be an all around great athlete and producing on the field and great man off the field."
Pettigrew plans to return to Baton Rouge on Saturday, and he is looking forward to the trip for a few different reasons.
"Definitely just going to watch spring practice and seeing what they're doing. That's mostly what I want to see," Pettigrew said. "And just have some fun and socialize with some friends who will also be there."
After his trip to Baton Rouge, Pettigrew plans to take some time off the road, but he does have a few summer plans in mind.
"I'm just going to LSU this weekend and that will be it until the summer," Pettigrew said. "This summer I am planning on going to Alabama. That's about it for right now. I'm just trying to focus on my spring practice and getting my team better.
"I forgot to mention definitely a Texas visit. Most likely in the summer. That's when I plan to do a lot of things. I'm just getting my schedule together."
Pettigrew is currently ranked No. 216 in the Rivals250, and is ranked No. 9 among the nation's 2016 tight ends.
